Follow the trail along the line that famously separated the northern states from the southern states in the 19th Century.
Start from the banks of the Brandywine River in Chadds Ford and follow the long distinct, linear trail that follows White Clay Creek through the wooded valley of White Clay Creek Preserve.
The trail, sections of which follow paved roads, wanders into parts of Delaware and Maryland before finding the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania, ending all the way out in Cumberland County, where the Appalachian Trail passes through Whiskey Springs.
COME PREPARED
Although there may be some places where a backpacker could make a no trace, overnight bivouac, in general, camping is limited to areas where the trail traverses state parks or forests.
