Don’t let this holiday season go by without a trip to one of Philadelphia’s most charming neighborhoods, where you’ll encounter carolers, brass ensembles, decorated cobblestone streets, extended store hours and, of course, Santa Claus!
The holidays are a special time of year in historic Chestnut Hill, where block after block of storefronts sparkle with holiday lights while red velvet ribbon and festive greens adorns Victorian-style lampposts. The stores are filled with gifts for everyone and music fills Germantown Avenue as carolers and brass band ensembles warm the night air for a perfect holiday shopping experience.
So forget about the mall and head to Chestnut Hill for their famous Stag & Doe Nights in December. In addition to regular business hours, Wednesday nights in December (Dec. 5, 12 and 19) will show Chestnut Hill sparkling with music and merriment to put everyone in a festive mood. There will be extended shopping hours, holiday surprises andlive brass bands on the Avenue, as well as promotions and receptions in many stores and restaurants.
Evenings of music and entertainment will get you in the holiday spirit as you stroll along Germantown Avenue. As you browse the boutiques for holiday gifts, inhale the aroma of roasted chestnuts and sip a cup of hot chocolate. Of course, you should enjoy a meal at one of their great restaurants and take a quick photo with Chestnut Hill’s strolling Santa.
Santa will make his first appearance in Chestnut Hill this year on Friday, November 23 with a roving brass quartet.
