Competitors travel from more than 28 states, as well as Canada and England, to compete in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta,
Enjoy a great fall day in Fairmount Park and take in a picturesque fall regatta. The 2.75-mile race is one of the major headrace regattas during the fall rowing season and holds the title as the largest one-day regatta in the world.
The event, which spans 10 hours of continuous rowing and includes 23 event categories, is a highlight for high schools and colleges around the world. It attracts more than 6,000 competitors and about 10,000 spectators.
The racecourse starts near Twin Bridges and runs downriver, ending between the Girard Bridge and Boathouse Row.
COME PREPARED
To make the day more enjoyable, bring chairs or a blanket, sun tan lotion, binoculars and some snacks. Or to get the best view of the regatta, make reservations for the Picnic in the Park.
DON'T MISS
The Picnic in the Park is a benefit luncheon held under a tent on the banks of the river during the regatta. Enjoy an open-air buffet plus door prizes, giveaways and a silent auction.
