George Howe
Introduced the International style to America
George Howe's (1886-1955) architectural career began in partnership with the firm of Mellor and Meigs with whom he designed numerous houses in the traditional English and French residential styles.
He broke from the firm and these traditional styles with the commission for the PSFS Building with which he introduced the International style to America. Howe later briefly partnered with a number or architects, including Louis I. Kahn, and was chair of the architecture department at Yale University.
