Outsider Tip
This may be the only triathlon that includes both a cruise and a chance to nap.
Kick off the summer with a challenging Memorial Day course, which spans the long stretch between New York and Philadelphia. You'll start out in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty, with a one-mile swim in the Hudson, before boarding a chartered ferry to the Atlantic Highlands in New Jersey.
Once there you'll pick up your bike for a 91-mile ride through the Garden State, followed by a 10-kilometer run along the banks of the Schuylkill River in beautiful Philadelphia, home of the Liberty Bell. The route ends at the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps made famous by Rocky Balboa.
The race is in its fifth year and is strictly limited to 200 competitors. It includes a two- and three-person relay event, as well as an entry for physically challenged competitors.
COME PREPARED
Entries will be strictly limited to 200 athletes, and there will be no waiting list. Everybody gets a T-shirt.
DON'T MISS
Look for the post-race picnic at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, directly across from Eakins Oval on Ben Franklin Parkway.
