Outsider Tip
Lake Nockamixon is classified as a Trophy Bass Lake and regularly hosts bass tournaments. The park is also home to bald eagles as well as a great blue heron rookery.
Support Conservation
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has an ambitious program of environmental education that strives to create a more informed citizenry. The activities, which are scheduled March through November, emphasize environmental knowledge, responsibility, motivation and commitment. Find out more at their website.
Offering more than 1,450 acres and four public launching areas, Lake Nockamixon is a popular spot for boating of all kinds, including catamarans and windsurfers. Anglers also enjoy this warm, expansive water lake, which is stocked with a variety of species.
You can rent small paddle boats here, and there’s a pool for swimming. The 10 overnight cabins available for use are modern and comfortable, and a series of trails wind through the relatively flat landscape about the lake.
COME PREPARED
You’ll need your own boat for serious sailing, but conveniently there's a boat rental company onsite. There’s no swimming in the lake itself. Except for the cabin area, fishing pier and marina, the park closes at sunset. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited and pets must be leashed.
