Since 1995, Philadelphia’s Chinatown has been celebrating the arrival of fall with this immensely popular festival. The day is filled with events and activities for all people of all ages and ethnicities, especially families and children.
Local culural groups put on a series of dance and musical performances at the Chinese Friendship Gate. Vendors pour into the streets selling everything from local produce and delicious asian treats to exquisite jade jewelry. Children can have their face painted and you can have your fortune told. When evening arrives, be sure to join in the traditional Lion Dance and Lantern Parade down 10th Street.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, which never fails to attract a large and excited crowd of visitors to Chinatown, is meant as a time to celebrate your family and friends with your same family and friends. The Mid-Autumn Festival is held in late September.
