Insider Tip
The giant specialty margaritas are a significant draw, making happy hour a very popular time to visit. The “No Mas” Madras margarita with tequila, cointreau, and orange and cranberry juices is one of our favorites.

The Mexican Post has been a Philadelphia favorite since the original location opened in Old City in 1989. The Post recently opened another Center City location at 16th and Cherry Streets, right on Benjamin Franklin Parkway and convenient to several nearby hotels.

This new Mexican Post has a cool contemporary design that seamlessly blends old Mexico with modern style. In addition to the main dining area, there is a comfortable lounge, complete with a working fireplace, a natural wood bar and a serene indoor waterfall.

The Mexican fare at the Post is flavorful and filling. The menu features everything from traditional tacos, savory chimichangas and hefty burritos to sizzling fajitas, enchiladas and flautas.

Keep your eye out for a few of the house specialties, including the Salmon Vallarta, a salmon fillet sautéed in white wine, butter and garlic, the chile relleno, a deep-fried stuffed green pepper, and the Red Snapper Veracruzana, sautéed with olives, capers and jalapeños.

The drink of choice at the Mexican Post is, not surprisingly, tequila. The Post boasts a large selection and the knowledgeable staff is more than happy to help you pick one right for you.
