PHILADELPHIA, April 14, 2008 - This year, Philadelphia will be more amusing than ever, with the addition of a couple familiar names to the popular Philadelphia Park Liberty Carousel at Franklin Square, the debut of a Muppet-go-round at Sesame Place and the restoration of an early 20th-century carousel at the new Please Touch Museum. - This spring, two of Philadelphia’s beloved horse heroes—Smarty Jones and Afleet Alex—will permanently join the other animals on the Philadelphia Park Liberty Carousel at Franklin Square, the refurbished original square in the heart of Historic Philadelphia. 6th & Race Streets, (215) 629-4026, www.historicphiladelphia.org
- The only theme park in the nation where the stars of Sesame Street come alive everyday, Sesame Place debuts its Sunny Day Carousel on May 3, 2008, in the center of the park. - This fall, when the Please Touch Museum moves to its new location in Fairmount Park’s Memorial Hall—a National Historic Landmark built in 1876 for the Centennial Exhibition—the new children’s museum will boast three times more space for exhibitions and programs.
