Mural Arts Month Details
Throughout October, the City of Philadelphia’s Mural Arts Program (MAP) celebrates Mural Arts Month. And for 13 months starting October 2008, the Mural Arts Program will celebrate its 25th anniversary!
The Celebration Begins
On October 10 and 11, 2008, two big events will celebrate the Mural Arts Program's 25th anniversary.
On Friday, October 10, MAP will kick-off its anniversary year with a “Birthday Bash” celebration at City Hall.
And on Saturday, October 11, MAP will host “Muralpalooza,” a family-friendly celebration with painting activities, crafts, fun games and, of course, lots of murals. Muralpalooza will take place on the plaza in front of Ben Franklin High School at Broad and Spring Garden Streets from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
As always, Mural Arts Month will feature several mural dedications throughout the city. Check out all the events at Mural Arts Program!
The Program
The theme of Mural Arts Month is one of anti-violence in the City of Philadelphia. The Mural Arts Program works with youth throughout Philadelphia in an attempt to use art for social change.
